Describe your sound in no more than 6 words...
Abrasive Euphoric Bizarre Nintendo Electro Wizardry
Why should we come and see you?
Our Live Set has a much dancier edge to it than our Album. We try to fit as many ideas and sounds into a song so that it becomes a blur and feels like a big robot made of pianos and bass synths
Name one person who has influenced you most:
SUDA51, he's a Japanese writer for video games. He made a game a while ago called Killer 7. The game is crazy. It was declared a disaster when it came out because it was just too complex for a video game, but I adore it. It was Killer 7 that started Remnant Psyche, I wanted to create a musical equivalent. I am just fascinated by that idea of something that is so overambitious it is almost flawed. so many ideas and influences going into something that it just becomes a cluttered vision. I love that concept. Which may or may not be a good thing.
What has made you happy today?
Finally finished the artwork for the album. A woman holding out coins in both hands with a big gold face in a grey knitted jumper. Mysterious.
What has pissed you off?
We were handing out boxes for robot costumes tonight, and a guy left us waiting in the cold while he considered whether he needed boxes...don't ask!
Best South Coast venue?
I love The Railway, Winchester. Not only do I live opposite it, it has a brilliant Sound quality and the ceiling is low enough to give a really underground seedy feel.
Now for some song title based questions.....just answer at least 10 and interpret the questions as you please!
What's new pussycat?
Our debut album Technic Drake which will be launched on Friday 13th at the Joiners, Southampton. We have been recording the album for nearly a year and a half. Tom Chilton, who has been producing the album (and also plays bass in the live band) has progressed amazingly since we started and his development has powered the recording process for a long time, which I think has helped immensely. He works at his own proper recording studio and it has given so much scope and possibilities to the sound of the finished product.
Who do you think you are?
Someone who wants to keep immersing themselves in music. I try to stay on top in as many bands as I can. Remnant Psyche as well as Death of Cinema Club are keeping me busy right now, but I've enjoyed playing with many great musicians and bands, Rival Joustas, Quarrel Pops, Ejector Seat's Drum Improv Band, Thos Henley, The Umbrella Men, Fuck Go Italy Party, I'm hungry for trying out everything. I think if someone can play, then that shouldn't limit them to one band. They should donate their input to as many as they can, it can only broaden your creativity.
How do you do what you do to me ?
By taking an excruciatingly shameful sample from a cartoon and popping it right into the middle of a song and not feeling bad about it.
How deep is your love?
20,000 leagues under the sea. Last year I got unhealthily obsessed with Jellyfish and Deepsea Creatures. Like the guy from Superbad who couldn't stop drawing cocks, I was like that, but drawing my own Marine Life, I loved it.
When will you be famous?
I once had my photograph taken down a dark alley with some intimidating teens who genuinely thought I was from Gym Class Heroes.
Are You Lonesome Tonight?
Not with a boxset of House Party to get through! I bought House Party 1, 2 and 3 the other day. Its like Fresh Prince of Bel-Air The Movie. It's just brilliant. After seeing it, I really want a hi-top fade.
Who Let The Dogs Out?
I watched the new X-Files film the other week and several double-headed Dogs are set loose on Mulder in that. It was just awful, I'm never getting those two hours back.
Where is the love?
I used to live in a house which we named The Future. And rather than forget about that name in time, it stuck. All our bills and letters to the house were addressed to The Future. If you went out, you then headed BACK TO "The Future", I loved that place a lot.
Should I stay or should I go?
I think you should go on Youtube and check out this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lQwquGVQdl8
I think it's one of the funniest videos I've ever seen. All the charm and subtlety of the original hymn is completely blown apart and destroyed by the fact that it sounds like Optimus Prime. I love love love Vocoders, so much, but there is a context they must be used for.
When will I see you again?
We are playing a MintSouth club-night on the 27th March at the Soul Cellar, which should be goooood.
