smash S*M*A*S*H and THE ORPHANS @ The Soul Cellar

Remember just before Brit Pop?   There was a scene that was about to take over the world. A glam pop punk scene callled New Wave of New Wave.  The leaders of this scene were bands called S*M*A*S*H and Brightons' These Animal Men; both were all over the NME and Melody Maker and appeared on various music programmes including Top Of The Pops and The Word.  Then Britpop bands like Oasis, Blur and Pulp came along and the New Wave scene suddenly vanished.

It was always said the scene was somewhat ahead of its time and they are now back to prove they still have what it takes.

They are set to make a bit of a comeback (although the remaining members of These Animal Men are now known as The Orphans) with S*M*A*S*H and The Orphans playing Southampton's The Soul Cellar on Friday April 24th.  Door prices are being kept low at just £4 before 10.

Upcoming Southampton pop punk band I Remember Tapes will be providing the support on the night, on the back of a very successful E.P launch. Plus you'll be able to witness the amazing DJ skills of the most talented DJ in Southampton.

And for anybody not into the early 90's punk scene, there will be a mixture of soul/funk/dance music provided downstairs by DJs Marcus Muktarsingh, who used to ply his trade with Gilles Petersson and the Blissfields Festival Resident 'DJ Little Chief'.
