Oxjam Southampton are looking for a team of volunteers to help put on some amazing Oxjam events over the next 6 months!

You all probably know that Oxjam is a local music festival designed to raise cash and awareness for Oxfam appeals! This year, Oxjam is slightly different -as well as helping people to put on their own Oxjam events (e.g. battle of the bands, guitar hero competition, karaoke etc!) the main Southampton Oxjam team is also going to plan, organise, implement and staff their own multi-venue event in Southampton, using as many local bands as possible! It's gonna be amazing ...hopefully!  More details of this year's Oxjam can be found at www.oxfam.org.uk/oxjam

The roles that need filling are:

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR - works out a budget for the team and also a fundraising plan, organise fundraising events/stunts over the summer to provide a float for the main event, helps to ensure there are many fundraising opportunities at the main event, is in charge of money handling at the main event, provides support to other volunteers putting on their own events. Ideal for someone who is good with money but creative as well - we need to make as much as we can! (Don't let the money responsibility put you off - I and the rest of the team will be there to support you!)

COMMUNITY PARTICIPATION COORDINATOR - encourages sections of the community to become involved by going into schools, unis and clubs etc to encourage them to put on their own Oxjam events and to raise awareness of the main events, recruits volunteers for the main event and also to help the other core team members in their roles, manages volunteers at main event. Ideal for someone who wants to get into recruitment or is great at getting others involved!

CAMPAIGNS AND BRAND COORDINATOR - ensures that Oxfam's Climate Change campaign is visible at every event and that the number of people who want climate change is recorded, also ensures that the Oxjam brand is used correctly at all events, organises the decor of the main events. Ideal for someone passionate about climate change and Oxjam and wants to get people's voices heard!

Experience is good but not essential - enthusiasm and a passion to work hard and fight climate change are key!!

If you think you haven't got enough time to do a major role, then you can still get involved! Once the core team is in place they'll be looking for people to help them with their areas and we'll also be looking for promoters, staff to help at the events and people to hold their own events!
