Celebrating the music scene in the South

The regions top festivals have started to announce their line ups and tickets are selling fast. Here is a round-up of who is playing where and when:

The Isle of Wight Festival, 11-13th June

The two big headliners confirmed are Jay Z and The Strokes, but other acts confirmed for the festival that is perfect for non-festival goers include Calvin Harris, Pink, Blondie, Mr Hudson, Biffy Clyro, Spandau Ballet, Friendly Fires, Vampire Weekend, Doves and Melanie.

Vampire Weekend

Blissfields, 2-4th July

No bands are confirmed to play yet, but expect a mix of some old favourites and some major surprises. The buzz from the Bliss camp suggests they are bursting to tell us some exciting news. But for now, we just have to remain patient (or guess). I'd recommend getting a ticket before they announce the line up though as rumour has it they will fly out as soon as an announcement is made.

Endorse It In Dorset, 6-8th August

Another cracking festival is promised for 2010. To join headliners The Damned, also playing are.. Pauline Black from The Selector, N.U.M.B, Vice Squad, Spunge, SubGiant, Pronghorn (appearing at The Talking Heads in March). Scrumpy Sunday returns after last years success. They also have Who’s Afear’d, The Boot Hill All Stars and Surfin Turnips to help ease your afternoons (responsible) drinking.

Endorse It are also proud (and rightly so!) to announce ex-Pop Will Eat Itself - Vile Evils!!! A great band with what is their first festival appearance since the demise of PWEI. Vile Evils have agreed to play some classic PWEI tracks as well.

It’s all go at Camp Bestival HQ as Rob da Bank and crew gather together even more astounding line-up additions and head-turning treats for this year’s Lulworth Castle jaunt. Kicking off on July 30th and running until August 1st, Camp Bestival, winner of the 2009 Family Festival Award, is set to surpass the dizzy heights of last year’s event as we continue our pursuit of the perfect Great British holiday vibe with a multitude of amusements for all the family to relish for a whole wondrous weekend.

Joining the myriad musical pleasures previously revealed they recently announced that the gloriously groove-bound Friendly Fires will be headlining the Main Stage on Sunday night of this year’s event.

Rob da Bank says:

“Camp Bestival's third trip to the seaside is looking like a right old knees up - Friendly Fires have played almost every Bestival going so I'm delighted to see them coming to Camp and we've done loads of work on our arts and literary side and to have interview sessions with Andrea Arnold, Nigel Godrich and DJ Derek is ace.  Lots and lots more stuff coming next week… Hold tight!”

Other acts confirmed  include:
Madness, Human League & George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelicm, Friendly Fires, Marc Almond, Billy Bragg, The Blockheads, Chas and His Band, The Wurzels, Kid Carpet, The Boy Who Trapped The Sun and many, many more.
