The Lost Boys are the latest local act to take our (silly) mINterview set of questions.  They seem like a good bunch though - check them out here. Or at The Joiners on 29th May or Lennons on 12th June.

Who is in the band and what do you do?

Daniel: Well, I play guitar and try to sing. Shaun's on lead guitar, James gets his bass on, and Jason is all over the drums.

For anybody who hasn't heard you, tell us about your sound?

Daniel: We try to write quirky indie pop songs about day-to-day things. It's an 100% British sound, so a bit like The Buzzcocks and The Jam.  If your looking for beatdowns and pig squeals you ain't gonna find it here, but if you want simple catchy 3 minute pop songs, we're your lads.

What have you done previously?

James: We've played alot of gigs locally in Suthampton so far, with great bands like The Bishops, The Pipettes and The Supernovas. We also had a spot at Glade Festival in 2009.

Shaun: ...and we've eaten a lot of biscuits.

What have you got planned?

Jason: Recording a new single, writing and then putting it in to practise really.  Other than that a few gigs lined up and just having a good time really.....and possibly a few more biscuits.  Who knows?

Why should we check you out?

Daniel: Because we're doing something different to all the other local bands our age.  It only takes a few minutes to listen to one of our tracks, and you never know- you might enjoy!

Got any live shows coming up?

Shaun: Yes indeed, a fair few in Southampton, and also one we've just booked in London. Check the myspace for those.

Have you got any releases/demos we can hear?

Shaun: Yes indeedy, we've released 2 singles so far, and are already working on 3rd in time for Summer. Check the myspace for those bad boys.

Biggest Influences?

Daniel: There's too many.  The Jam were the band that inspired me to get writing, but then we also all love The Kinks, Dylan, and The Beatles.  So quite a lot...Joy Division, The Buzzcocks... Oh and Rolf Harris of course....who isn't inspired by that treasure?

Favourite colour?

Jason: I'm quite fond of white, though black is up there with the best of them.

Favourite food?

James: ...some vegetarian thing.

Favourite soft drink?

Shaun: I prefer the hard drinks but if I had to choose one it’d most likely either be sprite or just plain old blackcurrant squash.

Favourite booze?

Jason: A cold beer really, maybe a double southern comfort with ice.

James: ...and mines a strongbow!

What would be in your ideal rider?

James: Personally....A Swedish blonde

Best live band you've seen in the last 6 months?

Daniel: The Watermelons......I'm addicted to them, There an hugely talented unsigned band, I've caught them live a few times and have been inspired and blown away on every occation. The lead singer has one of the best voices I've ever heard. Look them up and get all inside them.

If you were a seagull, who would you take a shit on?

Jason: Piers Morgan, the smug twat...I'd also steal his sandwich

If you were a wasp, who would you sting?

Shaun: I would sting the musician ‘Sting’ just to prove a point that he has a silly name
