Southampton Festival details announced

Southampton celebrates its thriving music scene. With a breadth of exciting venues the City is home to all genres of music; fresh, original up and coming talent, 70ʼs rockers, folk and all that lies between.

From the fifteenth century Southamptonʼs mayor awarded a silver medal for the best Lute player; more recently Southamptonʼs musicians have graced stages all over the world, some becoming household names. Southampton Festivals invite you to Guildhall Square to celebrate the richness and diversity of the sounds of our city at a free family concert.

From 4pm on the 29th September the cityʼs Guildhall Square will come to life with a dazzling and entertaining show of some of the cityʼs best live performers. Leading the line up will be local songwriter and producer Mark Hill, four times Ivor Novello Award Winner and co founder of the world famous Artful Dodger brand which helped Craig David shoot to fame in 1999 with the single “Rewind”. Mark will be performing all his hits alongside new material due for release this autumn under the new name ARTFUL.

Sharing the stage will be other Southampton based acts whose musical achievements are already fuelling growing popularity well beyond the city limits.

Further details will be announced soon. Please visit www.southampton.gov.uk/events for updates.

The Event has been organised by Southampton Festivals a new not for profit social enterprise that aims to build on and support a wide-ranging festival season, which showcases the cityʼs vibrant and exciting culture to visitors and residents alike.
