British rock legends UFO announce a UK tour for 2013, culminating with a show in the Capital at Kentish Town’s hmv Forum. The multi-million selling hard rock / metal band make a return to the live arena following the band’s hugely successful UK / Irish 2012 Tour, and the release of their 20th studio album, and first since 2009, ‘Seven Deadly’, featuring some of the strongest compositions the band has ever recorded. They come to Bournemouth on February 22nd 2013 before calling in to Portsmouth Pyramids the following day.
With over 40 years in the music industry behind them, UFO live sees a rare combination of experienced and ambitious musicians who are interested in the present, their love of creativity and the active continuation of their celebrated band history. The UFO story began in 1969 when vocalist Phil Mogg, drummer Andy Parker, guitarist Mick Bolton and bassist Pete Way formed the group, taking inspiration from the famous London music club for the band name. Since the band’s inception they instantly distinguished themselves with their unmistakable style and ability to produce instant rock anthems including; ‘Doctor Doctor’, ‘Shoot, Shoot’, ‘Rock Bottom’, ‘Too Hot To Handle’, ‘Lights Out’ and ‘Only You Can Rock Me’.
UFO Seven Deadly UFO had enjoyed much Global success in their early years but this was accelerated by the arrival of German guitarist Michael Schenker, who joined in 1973 following the departure from his band Scorpions. Paul Raymond came on board as keyboards / rhythm guitar from 1976 and the band’s live cut ‘Strangers In The Night’ has been revered and is still referred to by the press as one of the best live releases of all time, whilst also signalling the end of the Mogg, Way, Schenker, Parker and Raymond line-up. For a band of their years, inevitable line-up changes have occurred with members leaving to work on solo efforts, but often returning to record or play live and reignite their UFO fire. The current band formation of three original members Phil Mogg, Paul Raymond and Andy Parker, plus American guitar slinger Vinnie Moore is the perfect complement.
Phil Mogg says; “On this upcoming tour we look forward to playing something old, something new and a couple of tunes that we haven’t had the pleasure of playing live before, so get ready, cos here we come.”
