The full line up for this years Southampton OxJam Takeover, which takes place on 20th October, has been announced.  Acts including Woven Bird, The Crooked Beat, Etao Shin, Shotaway, Seán McGowan and Martha’s Man are all due to play across three venues around the city.

What is Oxjam?

Oxjam is month-long music festival which takes place in cities all across the UK in October and raises money for Oxfam. Oxjam started in 2006 and since then has raised over £1.5 million for Oxfam. The Oxjam Takeovers are the flagship events, most of which are being held on Saturday October 20th this year. The Takeovers are basically multi-venue mini festivals! Oxjam aims to use local music to create a global impact.

What’s happening at the Oxjam Takeover Southampton?

The Oxjam Takeover Southampton is taking place Saturday October 20th 2012 and it’s set to be pretty amazing. We have three separate venues which will all open at 2pm and play host to amazing local talent throughout the afternoon and evening.
The Cellar is going to have bands such as Lost Boys, Palms & Pelicans and even the Southampton Ukulele Jam playing during the day and there will be a special finale of a Battle of the Bands in the evening. Live art, henna and face painting will also be taking place for everyone to get involved with. The Art House will see amazing local bands such as Woven Bird, The Crooked Beat and many more grace their stage. Finally, The Dorchester is going to have some pretty special acts and local favourites such as Seán McGowan, Bryony Marie Fry and Shotaway play some acoustic sets especially for us.

If you’re still standing after all of that, the Official Oxjam Takeover After Party at Lennons is the place to head! You get half price entry with the Oxjam wristband so there aren’t really any excuses to miss it.

You can buy tickets from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/186449 which can then be exchanged for wristbands on the day. Alternatively, you can hope tickets don’t sell out and get them on the door on the day! Tickets are £6 which gives you access to all venues throughout the day and half price entry to Lennon’s that evening.
