Portsmouth’s Southsea Fest has been short-listed in the Best Festival category in the second annual Artrocker Awards – the nominees of which have been announced today.
Taking inspiration from the old Brat awards, this year’s event will be a real rock’n’roll party, crowning the winners of 13 award categories (Nominees listed below). Artrocker is best known for its honest guide to new music. To reflect this and involve music fans, this year’s Awards is open for public voting – So GET VOTING NOW www.artrocker.tv/awards/start.
The VIP invite only award ceremony takes place in a proper old boozer, London’s Sebright Arms. The East End’s very own Django Django and TOY lead this year’s top picks with three nominations apiece.
Southsea FestThe Sebright Arms is an intimate pub, with a capacity of just 300. Artrocker are taking over the whole building, filling its two rooms with live music and DJs until late into the night. Doors will open to VIP Industry invitees only, between 1pm and 5pm, when all the winners will be revealed at the Awards Ceremony. Food will be supplied by hip burger company Lucky Chip plus Artrocker have organized a very special and very secret surprise ‘Live’ performance. From 5pm ‘til midnight the party continues, with the doors opening to the general public. The live room downstairs will become an Artrocker Live Event in its own right, with bands performing throughout the night.
“The second annual Artrocker Awards will follow on from where the last one finished – at the bar,” says Marc Sallis, Artrocker Editor. “The Artrocker Awards are about the music, the bands and giving the industry and the public a great event with a line-up that will recall the heady days of The Brats and inject some much needed drunken fun and rock’n'roll back into the industry. It’s Rock’n'Roll in its simplest and rawest form.”
The second annual Artrocker Awards will take place on Friday 7th December 2012 at the Sebright Arms in London’s East End.
