Chubby Checker? No, I just don't know how to dance. I thought it preferable to look like a complete idiot than to stand there swaying slightly and drink the radio active cider. If it was me then I'm glad you think I'm only 'slightly older'. Chubby Checker checked out before I learned to play chess.

This is true, however the extent of the language was extreme, even at 10.05pm. And,a s I mentioned, we were kinda trapped thanks to the downpour outside. Lesson learnt though!

my 17 year old son and i very much enjoyed all of the comedians but were aghast at the vast numbers of parents of young children who chose to ignore the prominent written content warnings as well as the verbal warnings given by the compere between each act and even by the acts themselves. It couldnt have been made clearer, this was not for children, and all the responsible unaccompanied parents/adults present seemed to enjoy the acts immensely.

Brett your festie tales really are hilarious! Ive written a piece for my local rag about EIID, but its a hell of a lot tamer than yours....maybe I should add something on MintSouth about the more sinister goings on that Corinne and I really experienced that weekend! ha ha. It was one to remember for sure!

Here's my little local mag piece anyway, (kid - friendly!) ha ha:

SIXPENNY Handley was the place to be this weekend as more than 3000 revellers attended the Endorse it in Dorset Festival at Oakley Farm. The event sold - out after selling the last 60 tickets at the gate on Saturday. Sounds of punk, dub, reggae and rockabilly thundered through the site from Friday until Sunday from six different stages. The Desmond Dekker stage hosted the festival’s bigger names including psychedelic trance group Eat Static, legendary goth - punk band The Damned, London electro - dub outfit Subgiant and the comical Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs.
Cowpunk band, Pronghorn, curators of the festival, rocked the crowd on Saturday night to celebrate the festival’s seventh year. Organisers encourage local bands to play at the festival, giving way to Sixpenny Handley - based band Jesserit to play on Saturday, amongst other acts from Salisbury, Bournemouth and across the South. A West Country celebrity and familiar face to Endorse it in Dorset was Wimborne’s town crier, Chris Brown, who was the festival’s compere dressed in his robe and tricorne hat.
La Boite a Musique, a caravan with its side cut out, acted as a popular stage for anyone wanting to show off their busking talents. The Strummerville stage, provided its audience with a cosy hub complete with sofas and a campfire. Strummerville is a charity set up in memory of The Clash guitarist Joe Strummer by his family and friends that aims to create new opportunities for aspiring musicians.
Subgiant guitarist, Olly Maw, (pictured) said: “This is our sixth year playing here. I come for my annual dose of punk and cider!” Providing a break from the rock ‘n’ roll intensity of the festival, tucked away at the edge of the festival was Pixie Chill, an area for people to play chess, practice yoga, have a massage or enjoy the mystical lights of its solar forest.
The occasional downpours didn’t spoil the fun. Water - proof sheets were thrown over Strummerville’s sofas and people found shelter in which to drink their pints of scrumpy or Endorse it in Dorset’s own brand of ale until the sun showed its face again. On Sunday, the hottest day, men were encouraged to lose their inhibitions as the Endorse it in Dorset tradition of Ladies’ Day saw scores of men in womens’ clothing.
It wasn’t just the adults having fun dressing - up as the Kids’ Space this year had a pirates theme, with entertainers The Tree Pirates building a pirate ship for children to play on. Also in the kids’ area was Peaceful Progress, a welcoming space displaying graffiti art where weary parents settled with a cup of Chai tea. Elsewhere across the site, Bristol - based Pieminister and Welsh food experts Iechy Da offered their services as alternatives to eating cans of baked beans that people packed along with their wellies.
Organiser, Iain Laing, said: “ This year was the best ever. It felt like we had spread our wings, getting visitors from further afield. I love this festival because it’s the only one I can safely take my three young kids to.”
Reggae beats were heard on Sunday evening by Rastafarian Macka B, who delighted the crowd with his pro - vegan lyrics. The highly anticipated mystery guests of Sunday night were The Dreadzone Soundsystem, causing crowds to flood to The Desmond Dekker Stage once the word had spread. Following on from Dreadzone and closing the festival’s main acts was Pauline Black of platinum - selling two - tone band The Selecter. DJs provided more music until the small hours for festie - goers who still had the energy to carry on dancing.
The organisers are already working on making next year’s festival another huge success.

I think I actually caught your set at the Strummerville on Sunday. If I'm right, you were all sat right near the fire looking TOTALLY wasted - but still pulled in the crowds! Good work!
